Hi
I did a goggle search ubuntu hardware compatibility listing" and I
got a lot of hits.

Below is three that you might want to check out.

Generally speaking, desktop or tower computers tend to have the least
compatibility problems. Laptops you can search around and find
people's experiences with various laptops and see who has the best
laptop/Ubuntu match up. For instance my tower computer has everything
working fine but my Acer Aspire 4710z has problems for the built in
web cam. I have a Canon Pixma iP1880 that I can't get working with
Ubuntu either. I was told that NVIDIA is the better choice for Ubuntu
as far as video cards but that might have changed. My first tower with
Ubuntu running in it was a 500 Mhz, PIII with 256 MB of ram with a 64
MB NVIDIA card. I was running Ubuntu 7.10 and I was able to run
Compiz with no problems so you don't have to have a killer system for
Ubuntu.

One Thing to be careful about is looking at the dates of any posts or
articles you read since some info might be out of date. Also everyone
has there opinion. Some info you find is good unbiased info and some
is sentimental/emotional opinion. For instance you find people
offering the opinon that something "sucks", but give no intelligent
reasons why they have come to that conclusion. So keep that in mind
also.
