I have a cdma modem and i just can't get it to work in ubuntu 8.10. I
have followed all the steps in the tutorial, a link to which is
provided below:

http://sbjaved.blogspot.com/2008/06/huawei-ets-2558-setup-guide-for-linux.html

When I first connect the modem and run dmesg, it tell me:

ti_usb_3410_5052 1-1:1.0: TI USB 3410 1 port adapter converter
detected

ti_usb_3410_5052: probe of 1-1:1.0 failed with error -5

next, when I put the appropriate file in /etc/udev/rules.d/ and
reconnect the modem, the line about failing with error -5 is no longer
shown. however, another line is shown saying that it is trying to read
the firmware. after that, no further progress takes place, and nor is
the modem connected to any device node/file in the /dev folder.

How do I fix this.
