Dear George, The error which you suggested has happened to me. It occurs when you install a package by force which is either out of the repository or without checking the dependencies requirements. Running dpkg --configure -a repeatedly till it succeeds will correct the problem. When it is run for the first few times, it gave me the same error E: _cache->open() failed, please report. but rerunning the command 5 or 6 times solved the problem. Thanks, Sriram
