Songbird is interesting and shows potential, but in my experience it's
still a little too unstable for everyday use.

Using an iPod with Linux used to be a nightmare - there was always a
very good chance that you'd end up corrupting the silly Apple database
on the iPod and end up having to do a restore, but the various app
developers seem to have cracked that one so now most decent Linux
media players will support it properly. Tbh, I really wish the effort
to port Amarok to windows hadn't fizzled out as I think it's a far
superior player to anything currently available. Persevere. It'll be
worth it :)
