Salaam, ttf-me-quran is not a requirement for Zekr. It's just recommended. Zekr works by default with Scheherazade font (on Linux) which is a free font available on debian repositories, although one should have me-quran in order to utilize uthman-taha theme.
Another problem can be roots db on the Zekr which is not free at all. We can however download it the first time it's run on the client's machine. I don't know if it can be easily resolved like what you did with flash mp3 player. Mohsen.
