That idea is very nice indeed. Yet the matter of release codename &
  version number has some complexity:

 1] debian/changelog entry: it is in the format <package> <version> <distro
release name>

In Debian <distro release name> is either experimental, unstable,
    testing or stable.

While in Ubuntu you got: hardy,intrepid,jaunty,...

I prefer to follow the Ubuntu naming for debian/changelog since our
distro is Ubuntu based, the reason is not to break things that we
    still do not know about.

2] A Ubuntu developer pointed to me that we should be modifying
/etc/lsb-release for our distro:

13:37 >asac< AnAnt: do you change /etc/lsb-release or is there some other way
to identify your distro at runtime?
13:38 <AnAnt> no, I don't change /etc/lsb-release
13:38 <AnAnt> except for the default artwork & installation, I don't think
there's another way to identify distro at runtime
13:39 <asac> k
13:39 <asac> i think you should adjust lsb-release and file bugs if that causes
issues
13:40 <asac> you should be able to use a different CODENAME at least
13:40 <asac> e.g. jaunty-me
13:41 <AnAnt> what issues do you mean?
13:41 <asac> i would file bugs if i knew about issues
13:41 <asac> not sure. maybe some software relies on some value in there
13:41 <asac> but i hope not
13:41 <asac> rely==if its changed it breaks

3] As for version numbering, we can do a (hijri year.month) scheme, but
for the time being, and for reasons similar to those above, I prefer
to stick to Ubuntu's numbering scheme (gregorian year.month) at
    least for now.

  * Regarding the points mentioned above, it would be useful that
someone would check how other Ubuntu-based distros. has handled it
(such as christian edition and linux Mint).

  * Btw, as far as I know the shrine of Taj Mahal has nothing to do with
    Islam.

  * I noticed on LinuxAC that some people there are very fond of Mint,
as far as I understand from a colleague the ppl at Mint by default
installs codecs and software that Ubuntu do not install by default.
It would be useful to see what they've done and get ideas.

  * Similarly I suggest that we work closely with the guys in Ojuba
distro (we already have a person in common, bro AlSadi), since both
    distros. have almost similar targets.

  * For the artwork we must decide on codename for next 'jaunty based'
release, and that decision must be made as soon as possible.

Brother Fadi: I'm ready to receive your artwork to start packaging
    it :)

  * I have an idea to further split each artwork (gdm, themes) package
into several target packages to minimize size. For example we got 3
GDM themes so far (not to mention the one Fadi has done), if we
install all those themes by the default, we will be taking a lot of
space. So what I am thinking about, is that the gdm themes package
for example would have several target packages, like:
    sabily-gdm-themes, sabily-<jaunty>-gdm-themes,
    sabily-hardy-gdm-themes.

<jaunty> should be replaced with our code name for next release,
    insh'Allah.

Where sabily-gdm-themes would depend on the GDM theme that we would
want to install by default (that would be sabily-<jaunty>-gdm-themes
    for the upcoming release).
