I didn't experienced any trouble launching application from menu item, and sys-tray icon is immediatley start. But (there is always a but :-) I noticed that ubuntuone client sometimes starts connecting immediatly after log-in while other times I've to start connection manually by selecting Connect (from applet right-menu or from button within ubuntu one folder in nautilus).
