Yes, you're right it definitely seems similar to this bug.
The patch that might help mentioned by Senthil from
Calcutta is found here:

I'm at home now too. I'll try that patch tomorrow.
At home I don't have a proxy and, here, the client runs flawlessly as it
does for you.
