Another possibility would be to use Mozilla Weave: http://labs.mozilla.com/weave/. It cam sync your bookmarks, historial, open tabs, saved passwords, etc. and all the data is transferred and stored encrypted using a password only stored on your local systems. By default it'll let you create an account on Mozilla's server, but the source code is available so you could also set up your own.
