Found image tracking code embedded in images. Once image files grepped and images containing tracking code were deleted, no further issues were encountered.

I resized it using Gimp with no problem but it continues to stop dead in it's tracks when it encounters the resized image I've attached. It buzzes through the initial image scan without difficulty.
