I still get a similar error message, see below. Retested on Ubuntu 16.04 and bionic (the error message is taken from the latter)
It should be noted that I'm running stock Ubuntu, not Ubuntu Studio, so I do wonder whether there are some additional steps to setup jack or whether that should be done automatically by the package... $ aeolus Warning: memory lock failed.
