Is this still happening? Could you describe in what way is the program
working improperly, possibly with screen shots? You mentioned the
package texlive-lang-xyz, does installing that package help and in which
way?

Bug description:
When Xubuntu 14.04 installs LyX it does NOT install texlive-lang-xyz
(in my case german) which prevents LyX from working properly, i. e.
you cannot perforn any action where LaTeX is involved.
