0.92.4? If so, could you provide a backtrace of the error shown using
gdb?
Also try renaming the preferences file and then attempting to start
Inkscape again. Thanks!

After starting "inkscape", the only thing which happens is the
following output to the console:
Segmentation fault
I have encountered this bug only on 64-bit Ubuntu. My other computer
with Ubuntu 10.04 under similar configuration, but 32-bit
architecture, runs inkscape without any problems.
