Rather than that, please try the Scribus PPA. If it behaves wrongly in that build as well, please consider sending the bug upstream or writing to Scribus' support mailing list for more details.
Honestly, I don't think there is much value in following bugs like this downstream: it's *very* unlikely that we packagers will even try to fix such a bug, instead, it would just clog up the bug tracker. I could perhaps try to reproduce it and if I can confirm forward it upstream myself, but realistically it doesn't make much sense, I probably wouldn't even be able to figure out the characters I'm looking for.
