another thing about this program is that the whole install process uses about half of normal time... described in Bug #1039317

(standard-user is not in the audio-group, keyboard layout after installation is not as choosed in the installer [Bug report #1039216]) Start Win7 64Bit make a quickformat of a 4GB TDK-Usb-Memorystick open "Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.0.6.exe" Step1: choose "Ubuntu Studio 12.04" under Step1 Step2: choose the right iso-file (md5sum follows later) Step3: select the "F:\" witch is my usb-stick Step4: point the Slider to 1025mb (Step4 is: "Set a persistant file size for storing changes (Optional)") I'm pretty sure I also did at least one installation without making this optional file (let Slider at 0mb) click on create and agree the possibility of data-loss with clicking "Yes" Installation done, process complete... clicking on "close" and shutdown the computer... Turn on Computer and push F7 for selecting boot device select "TDKMediaTrans-It Drive P-MAP"... installer starts choose "Deutsch" as language choose "Install Ubuntu Studio to HDD" on the welcome screen "Deutsch" is pre-selected; click on next it shows that there's enough HD-Space, that the Laptop is on power and that there's a internet connection. Activate both boxes (download updates while installing, use 3rd party software)... next... choose "etwas anderes"('something different') (beside of 'install aside of other os' and 'format everything')... next... Partitioning: - delete /dev/sda5 - choose the free space to create a new partition: logical, 17157mb, create at the beginning, use as Ext4, mount-point: / ....OK... note that there's already a swap-partition on /dev/sda6 - choose "/dev/sda" to install boot loader getting confused because it's /dev/sda8 where i'm ready to install (instead of /dev/sda5, as i wrote before). So go back a step by click on 'Back' (almost) exaktly the same again: choose "etwas anderes"('something different')... next... Partitioning: - look veerry exact, but the partiotion i'm going to use is really /dev/sda5 - I realise that there is some grafik issues... drag the window, and everything what was behind is left gray... however... - making a foto before chaning anything, just for the case that I dont trust my memory again :) - delete /dev/sda5... and uuh, its changing the descriptions of the partitions... what was sda8 bevor is now sda7, sda6 is sda5 now and sda7 is sda6 now... never saw this bevore, but probably normal?? however... - making another foto... - choose the free space to create a new partition: logical, 17157mb, create at the beginning, use as Ext4, mount-point: / ....OK... this new partition is now on /dev/sda8... alright then :) .. (note that there's already a swap-partition on /dev/sda6) - make another foto to remember... - choose "/dev/sda" to install boot loader - klick on 'install now' pre-selected time-zone is "Zurich" (really propper would be "Zürich", but who cares :) )... click 'next'... "Tastaturbelegung"(keyboard layout)-Window: - pre-selected is: "Deutsch" on the left and "Deutsch" on the right side... so I choose "Deutsch (Schweiz)" on the left side and let the apearing "Deutsch (Schweiz)" on the right side as it is... - testing keyboard and its as it should be... 'next'... "Wer sind sie?"('who am i')-Window: - name: "test" - computername: "test-P170HMx" - username: "test" - password: "abc!123@" - confirm password: "abc!123@" (then a friend came and we spend some hours together... so, there was a break of about 5 hours... I guess it doesn't change anything, but if you wish I can repeat the same installation (witch I did already about 5 times in the last days to be absolutley sure that I got it right) ) - let the pre-selected 'ask for password at login' be and click on 'next' "Wählen sie ein Bild"('choose a pictuer')-Window: - just click on 'next' on the next window I don't select any other user-account to import and continue without any import-other-account action... (click 'next') message apears that install is finished... click on 'reboot now'... it does a normal reboot into the new installation... now I have to enter Password. The second drop-down menu under the password-field shows a "Deutsch - Deutschland", witch in my opinion should be something like 'deutsch - schweiz'... I click on it to see what else i can choose, but there's only different styles of english... so i let it on "Deutsch - Deutschland" enter my password in belive that I have the swiss-german layout... zonk! wrong password! enter it again in belive to have a normal german layout... zonk! wrong password! enter it again in belive to have a US-layout... aalright then! now it works... remove the TDK-Memory-stick from where I did the installation... open the terminal and type: - "cat /etc/group | grep test" - "cat /etc/group | grep audio" plug in the TDK-Memory-stick again, make new folder, new file and copy result into this file (cause i did the log-writings on another computer)... close all windows, unmount memory-stick and unplug it... here are the results: test@test-P170HMx:~$ cat /etc/group | grep test adm:x:4:test cdrom:x:24:test sudo:x:27:test dip:x:30:test plugdev:x:46:test lpadmin:x:109:test test:x:1000: sambashare:x:123:test test@test-P170HMx:~$ cat /etc/group | grep audio audio:x:29:pulse test@test-P170HMx:~$ ...ah, and also in the terminal the keyboard layout is on 'US' instead of 'German(swiss)' and the md5sum of the install-iso: test@test-P170HMx:/media/82902D22902D1DE3/Dokumente und Einstellungen/PiNap/Downloads$ md5sum ubuntustudio-12.04-dvd-i386.iso 1129bc01b85b3c1c714bd27f68f3f2f8 ubuntustudio-12.04-dvd-i386.iso To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntustudio/+bug/1039211/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntustudio-testers Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntustudio-testers More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
