This is Biyi Feng from London School of Economics and Political Science 
(LSE). I am writing to you on behalf of LSE China Development Society (CDS) 
to formally invite you to join the 2011 LSE-PKU Summer School in Beijing.
 
LSE and Peking University have jointly run a two-week Summer School in 
Beijing each summer since 2004, with courses led by leading faculty from 
both institutions. In 2010, the programme welcomed over 275 participants of 
52 nationalities.
 
Applications are now open for the 2011 programme, which runs from 8-19 
August, and hope that you will be willing to forward the information below 
to your (members/colleagues), who we thought might be interested.
 
Please note that a discounted Student rate is available, and that an 
additional £100 discount is applied for any complete applications received 
by 31 March.

Applications NOW OPEN for the 2011 LSE-PKU Summer School in Beijing
 
The 2011 LSE-PKU Summer School is a two-week programme based at Peking 
University, running from Monday 8 to Friday 19 August. Participants take 
one course from the list below, each designed and taught by members of 
academic staff from the London School of Economics and Political Science 
and Peking University, two of the world's leading institutions for teaching

The courses total 48 contact hours (usually 36 hours of lectures and 12 
hours of classes), and are formally assessed to allow the award of an 
official transcript. Many previous participants have been able to receive 
academic credit for the programme from their home institutions. All courses 
are taught in English, and there is the opportunity for participants to 
undertake ten hours beginners Chinese language tuition alongside the 
programme.

  

Participants

The LSE-PKU Summer School attracts students and professionals from around 
the world, over 275 participants of 52 nationalities in 2010. More than a 
quarter of participants are graduate professionals working in a wide range 
of related fields, including business, finance, public policy, 
international affairs, NGOs, media and law. The students who attended in 
2010 came from over 120 university and other higher education institutions 
in 27 countries.

 

Costs

The programme tuition fee is £1050, with a discounted rate of £950 
available to any current students, and a further £100 discount is 
available for all completed applications received by 31 March 2011. A £40 
application fee, transport and accommodation costs are additional.

Applications for the programme are now open, and can be submitted on the 
programme website where more information is available.
