We had 7 of us show up for the evening which allowed for a four player
game as well as a three player game.

I decided to jump into a game of Brass along with NateT, MarkT and
Ran.

Rules explanations were given and then we were off. It took a few
rounds for everything to start clicking into place for me and and
first I felt like I was just setting up Ran For the win. I was
wondering if, much like when you are new to Puerto Rico there are
certain functions you can perform that will, in the end, give other
players the benefit (for instance a newb choosing craftsman that just
sets up the person to his left to ship). I laid down coal and that
allowed Ran to lay down a mine.

The game really isn't that way, of course, but at first I was
wondering if it was, and I was making all sorts of newb mistakes and
setting up others for the win.

In the end I was impressed by the game. It has a lot of great
decisions and often agonizing ones at that. MarkT won and Ran came in
second. At the end of the first scoring round I was pretty far behind
however and was unable to recover from it. I was glad, however, that
I recovered somewhat and didn't finish 50 points behind everyone else.

I also got one play of Dominion in. I undervalued money in preference
for cards that allowed abilities and that was, quite simply, a
mistake. Ran went for cash and pretty much stomped us. I need to
play a few more games before I make a final decision on that one.

Saturday night we got our sixth session of Descent in. This was our
first evening at Silver level and I was pretty concerned going in as
OL that the new weapons would be too much for me. My beasts are still
at copper level and unfortunately most of the levels that were drawn
for the dungeon were beast heavy.

I had to rely heavily on traps and spawning my gold level guys in
order to get some kills in but in the end I came out 41 points to
about 21 for the heroes.

We had a great session though (probably the most enjoyable thus far)
and wrapped it up in about 4 hours.
