We started at 8:00 a.m. with 8 people. One group played 1832, and I played Small World and Age of Steam. Small World is a lot of fun. I'm not sure how much depth is there, but I'm still enjoying playing it. For my second race, I paid 5 vp's to get the Commando Amazons. Total blast. It was a close game all around and I tied for 2nd.
Age of Steam I don't much care for. It's supposed to be the type of game that's right up my alley, but I don't enjoy it for some reason. I finished last. At this point some people went home, my son joined us, and we shuffled groups a bit. The other players started 1861 while Aaron, Bart and I played Le Havre and then Small World again. I won Le Havre, although it felt like I was being thwarted on whatever I needed to do. Small World was very close. I would have won if I'd gone after Aaron on my last turn instead of Bart. Oh well. Most everyone bailed at this point, so Chris, Aaron and I played a game of Cutthroat Caverns. Chris has all the expansions now, so we did the first Adventure. They've written up some set encounters it a "choose you own adventure" format. It is not role-playing by any means, but it adds some narrative structure to a series of engagements. Took about 2.5 hours and was pretty fun. Definitely worth trying if Cutthroat Caverns appeals to you. So, I had a very fun day. Played from 8:00 to 7:00.
