Let's see, Matthew, Jeremy and I started out with Cornerstone I have
to say it was a pleasant surprise! I expected little out of this
strategy/dexterity game and found it to be quite fun. Each turn you
roll dice and have to use one of 2 wooden pieces represented by your
roll. Wooden pieces have a checkerboard pattern which you have to keep
consistant when you place it on the stack. Finally you move your
meeple up "stairs" created as high up as you can. Whoever is up
highest at the end of the game wins! Jeremy and I tied in a game that
was close between all 3 of us.

Next Jeremy, Matthew, Andrew, Rachel and I played Snow Tails. We had
a good run with Jeremy pulling out early and staying ahead all race.
There is definitely more sure fire tactics than appear the 1st few
times you play. I really had a good time, finishing 3rd thanks to a
couple of sleds that totally biffed it in the end. Surprising as it
may sound, I think I am actually less likely to buy this now...can't
quite put my finger on why...just a gut feeling.

Then Andrew, Jeremy, Matthew and I played Finca. It is up for Spiel
des Jahres. It has a Mancala-like movement mechanic used to collect
goods, some difficult purchasing choices--including timing of
purchases, and a take-that mechanic that can be infuriatingly painful--
but which can only be executed a handful of times or less a game (I
think in our game it only happened 2-3 times). I barely eeked out a
victory and really enjoyed this game--I would like to play it again
sometime soon.

Okay, now Crokinole. I played 3 games--two before everyone arrived
and one at the end. Despite it being my own board, I was on the
losing end all 3 times. Everyone really enjoyed playing and I think
we have firm plans to really have a Crokinole tourney in 2 weeks with
3-4 Crokinole boards planning to attend.

I have to say it was another fun night of gaming. Set aside time to
jpin us next time for the Tourney! :)
