Well, it was a small crowd, just 7 of us.
Jeff, Chris & Aaron played LaHavre

The rest of us (Mark T., Ran, Ken & I) started with Automobile.
In Automobile You try to make the most moey--harder said than done.
You build from among 3 types of factories (economy, mid-range or
luxury), decide how big you want your factories to be (small, medium,
large), and produce cars that can only be sold that turn based on a
hidden demand of which you only know a little. There are lots of
other little things like role selection and executive decisions which
make for a lot of twist and turns in the plot.
I started out great after turn 1, but just did mediocre on turn 2 &
3. The math calculations in my head (about $4,300) told me that I
wouldn't win just plugging along at the same pace, so the last turn I
took out two loans and manufactured way too much in a bid to win the
game. Well, ended up not selling 6 cars and took huge losses and took
last. But I did stunt the income growth for Mark & Ken by flooding
the market! :)
Ken who started out small, but built into a manufacturing mogul,
managed to sell everyone of his cars the last turn, while Mark got
stuck with some losses. That made the difference and Ken won by a
good margin.

It was now 9:30 PM and the store employee was planning on closing down
in about an hour, or I think we were up for another game of
Automobile. Instead we played Scripts & Scribes. I really like the
mechanics and flow of this game--just not the theme. In the end, Ran
won 2 colors & I won two colors and he edged me out 6 to 5. I'm
working on retheme-ing (sic) :) this as a detective game. :)

That was it.
