The 2010 SaltCON is brought to you by the same gamers who brought you the 2009 A Gathering of Strangers. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/406481
Website: http://www.saltcon.com Date: February 26-28 Location: University of Utah, Officers Club Time: 26th Ion Award Judging 8am to 3pm, 27th 8am to Midnight, 28th 10am to 4pm EVENTS: Contests: Ion Gaming Award Competition!! Dust off your prototypes and get in the contest! Calling All Tabletop Game Designers * * * * >From the people who brought you “A Gathering of Strangers 2009,” comes a new kind of game competition and convention. SaltCON 2010 will be February 26 through the 28 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Ion Award at SaltCON 2010 will be the equivalent of the Sundance Film Festival of games in the U.S. We want to evaluate your prototype games. Last year, we had 4 game publishing companies send their Presidents, VP's, and private playtesters to play 6 selected games. Four of the 6 were taken by those same publishers back home for further evaluation. As of right this minute, we have five publishers coming and eager to see what you have. The contest is in two phases. For the first phase, you will submit a form describing details of your game. You will also send us a picture of your game to guarantee that the game is complete at the time of submission. Your abstract will be evaluated by the judges, with your name removed. They will rank their favorite games. The top 6 games with the highest scores will be invited to come to SaltCON 2010. You will personally officiate the playing of your game. This is a great time for publishers to put a face to your name. Here’s what you really want to know. Who is eligible to participate? Anyone who doesn’t work for a judging company. Where is the form? I want to participate: http://www.saltcon.com/html/compete.html How much does it cost? $5.00 to have each abstract reviewed, and $20 if you are selected to present your game. Yes, you can submit more than one abstract, but only one can go into the finals. When is the abstract due? December 31st by midnight (U.S. Mountain time) When is SaltCON 2010? You will present your game on Friday, February 26th. What do I win? A plaque (screech). I know what you’re thinking. A plaque. Who wants a plaque? We are assembling a team of professional judges. We can only commit a plaque to you (a very nice one though). The judges can ask you for your game after the competition for further evaluation and offer you a contract. That’s their business. We can’t offer you a better deal than giving you the opportunity to have your game looked at by companies like Fred Distribution, Mayday Games, Out of the Box, Sanity Studios, and Sunriver Games to name a few. Also, you can subsequently submit your games to companies and tell them that it was an ION Award Finalist/Winner. Tournaments: Power Grid, Dominion, Settlers of Catan, Space Alert. Prizes will be awarded! Giveaways: We will be giving away gift certificates to local game stores and games. This will be done periodically throughout both days of the convention. Demos: Games to be Played Link: Math Trade: Game Library: There will be a game library on-site for use by attendees. Game Trade Table: There will be a game trade table on-site for use by attendees. The website has all the information and I will post more information here as it becomes available. We look forward to seeing everyone from the past conventions and starting a great new tradition in gaming in Utah! --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "utah county boardgamers association" group.
