I had a rare chance to game Tuesday at BGR and was able to play "Chaos in the Old World" and "Shadow Hunters." It was my first play for both. Our Chaos game was tense and fun. It's like a bunch of mechanisms I've seen before, but employed in such a way that you are compelled to use them to beat the snot out of each other. The theme and minis are a very nice touch, and despite the heaviness of the narrative (evil demons ruining territories and shedding blood) it didn't feel oppressive during play. I've been tempted to buy it since reading the reviews, but because it plays best with four, and it's fairly complex (by my standards, and for kids) I'll probably hold off on a purchase. It will be interesting to see how this game fairs over the long term on BGG.
Shadow Hunters was lots of fun. My brain had shut down by that point, so I made all sorts of mistakes, but had a good time. It seems like the perfect seven-player filler, with elements of Bang and Werewolf. Another cool game that won't quite work at home. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "utah county boardgamers association" group.
