The World Cup 2010 Card Game is a lot of fun. I'm not sure how well a 5-year-old would do, but I could see an 8-year-old playing it. The upside is it's only about $15 (that's including shipping), the downside is you'll have to order it from www.gamesfortheworld.co.uk. But my shipping time was only a week.
