With Ran and Ed embarking on an epic two player war of attrition that left Mark, Ben, Raphael, John and myself to play a game. We decided we would let Ben choose from the wide assortment that we had available to us and Ben narrowed it down to Ameritrash, Ameritrash, or Ameritrash.
So - with Ameritrash settled upon the choice then became Battlestar Galactica. BATTLESTAR GALACTICA For the most part things went pretty quietly during the start. I had my suspicions that John might be our Cylon but I wasn't entirely sure. We had traveled 2 distance and we were about to Jump again when I decided out of the kindness of my heart to issue an executive order to Mr. Mark (Our President) who promptly decided to throw both Ben and I in the Brig. Welp - guess I was wrong on who was the Cylon. We then warped again and John chose to move us a distance of 3. We were on our way. New loyalties were distributed and John now found is latent programming activated and rather openly (ie having revealed himself) began mocking 2 of the three humans that were locked up. First order of business was to take the Presidency away from Mark. I will let others discuss just how "friendly" the destiny deck was for us. In the end I think it took us almost 5 tries to strip it away from him - and that is even WITH my characters ability to reduce the difficulty by two. Multiple attempts to get out of the brig also failed. Luckily I could still do Presidency things from behind Bars so I slapped some card on Ben that allowed for him to draw three cards the next time we jumped. Galactica was completely surrounded by Cylon bases and our civilian ships were in mortal danger - however after several slow and agonizing turns we finally jumped (at the expense of 3 population) and low and behold another 3 distance card was played and we had met our goal. We just had to survive to the next jump. Even more slow and agonzing turns followed as Mark and John chipped away steadily at our almost all of our resources. Raphael kept us alive through constant executive orders being issued from the Brig and I finally was able to pardon Ben from the Brig (isn't being president nice). I believe we were down to one fuel when Raphael was finally able to activate the Hyperdrive and warp us to victory. NUNS ON THE RUN I had purchased this game and the rest were willing to let me give it a try. Mark had played before so he gave a quick runover of the rules and I took the guards and we were off. I will admit at first I thought that I was going to be slaughtered as I was able to catch Raphella but afterwards seemed to be really struggling... That is until Benina made some noice and I ran to find the source and ended up catching both Benina and Markita at the same time. Suddenly I was more than halfway to my goal. Alas for Raphella she was seen yet again and a quick burst of speed found her yet again spanked and sent back to her cell. One more to go... And that last soul would end up being Markita who was spaces behind me but I did an abrupt 180 and there she was in plain sight. No secret wishes filled tonight ladies! IN THE SHADOW OF (my patheticness) THE EMPEROR Lets just say there is a curse that hovers over any game that I play with Ran - and that curse is to huliliate myself. I don't wish to spend too much time going over what a pathetic job I did in this game. What I learned however is the fact that I really shouldn't risk trying to become the duke (or whatever they are called) of two regions when I am essentially first in turn order. After several rounds of having the majority only to have it lost as someone was able to play after me - the slow dawning of realization that I was being an idiot and should just work on one region came a little too slowly for this addled brain. I believe it would be John that would capture first with 26 points, Ran with 24, Ed with 22 and myself... well - behind that ;) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "utah county boardgamers association" group.
