I have "The Resistance" a short, 5+ deductive card game that is supposed to be pretty good. I will read the rules and bring it if an opportunity presents itself.
Here's a snippet from a review. It sounds like something that might appeal to the group. "*Comparison to Bang! and BSG* When I bought Bang!, I was hoping that it would be an exciting game where the hidden loyalties of the players made for interesting deductive work, with teamwork and backstabbing in equal measure. Instead, I found the gameplay hampered by long downtimes, meaningless decisions, and dumb luck. Player elimination, usually something that I dislike in a game, was never a problem if it got me out before ninety minutes of card-flippin' "fun" had elapsed. I love the Western theme to Bang!, but it just isn't enough to make up for its weak mechanics. The Resistance, on the other hand, plays fast, has no appreciable downtime (since it's never really anyone's turn, per se), has no elimination and (except for the loyalty cards) no randomness at all. It's all of the fun stuff I expected from Bang!, distilled into a twenty-minute game. There is virtually no theme at all, and yet the quickness and simplicity of play encourages players to get into character more than they might in a slower, heavier game. I could make the same comparison to Battlestar Galactica, but I don't think The Resistance wins quite as easily. Take away from BSG all of the nifty plastic minis, the event cards and the roles, the character abilities and the dice-driven Cylon battles, and you'd be left with arguably the best parts of the game, and something very similar to The Resistance. But if you, like me, actually enjoy the many thematic bells and whistles in BSG--if you like being fully invested in the role of Adama or Boomer or Kara Thrace for a few hours--then you won't want to sell your copy of BSG just yet." http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/547974/the-game-bang-should-have-been-and-less On Fri, Oct 15, 2010 at 10:16 AM, Sylvus <[email protected]> wrote: > I will bring along Macao.
