I played Planet Steam with Mark Tyler, Jeff who is a DK regular I believe, and Matt. The game has beautiful components and sort of Steampunkish graphics laid over a strong, enjoyable economic game. I think I like it better than Power Grid, if only because it was a little easier for me to wrap my head around. Role selection, auctions, resources, and intentionally crashing markets. Pretty fun, and will be even funner the second time around when we can knock it out in two hours.
After that I shanghai'd Mark T. and Matt and got them to read the rules for The Resistance and teach it to us. Mark and Matt are my personal boardgame mentats. It's sort of like an elegant version of Werewolf without player elimination that plays quickly with up to ten people. A few people asked about where I had gotten it so I'm assuming it struck a chord. I had a great time gaming and socializing! I wish I could make it out more. The Resistance page on BGG: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/41114/the-resistance I pre-ordered from the publisher for $20. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "utah county boardgamers association" group.
