Has anyone been checking out the new game Yomi? Here is what the infamous Michael Barnes has to say about it:
Yomi...oh man. It's an _incredible_ game. I seriously don't recall being so taken with a game in recent years. I've played a lot of really great games, but there are very few that have this kind of addictive quality. There is TONS of hidden depth. Every deck is like a finely tuned Magic deck with unique strengths, weaknesses, and power combos. But the card game aspect of it means that you've got to be fluid and adaptable, and the bluffing/psychological game is HUGE in it. I'm getting into Setsuke...I like her ability because I tend to play down to an empty hand, and then she's got that huge card draw/combo vs. joker or attack thing. Plus, she can use the powerup discard to ditch cards _and_ get the aces for the Shuriken Hail. Played a couple of games with Valerie too...I couldn't really figure it out but the guy I was playing played with her and showed me the deal. She can combo off non-consecutive cards, so you want to save up a bunch of non-face cards by playing defensively with blocks and a little brinksmanship with not playing a facedown combo escape. Then you unload since her cards are all cheap. Absolutely the best card game I have played since Magic. I just hope that it holds up to serious repeat play, because that's what it's going to get. -- Mark Crane -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "utah county boardgamers association" group.
