Luciano, Thant is EXACTLY what I needed. Thank you very much! Unfortunately, I do not see this in uClibc :( (It's to bad the pipe man page doesn't havee this listed as a "See Also").
The only thing I have to figure out now is how to use two pipes to connect the serials devices in both directions (given that pipes are only unidirectional ) Again, thank you both very much for your help.
