Isn't Eclipse just a frontend?
Right. Exactly like insight It needs a properly set up GDB on the host
site.(For another processor I have a gdb that does work with insight but
does not work with Eclipse. The company is working on upgrading this.)
All processor info should be in GDB.
I don't know much about the GDB API.
The
Blackfin guys have a guide on uClinux development/debugging using Eclipse.

I do hope my distributor will help me creating a working solution.
Otherwise I will not be able to convince my company to start the project.
