What about creating torrents for the files? That way it's easier for those who have some spare bandwidth to contribute without relying on any central node. You could use the main uClinux website as the tracker and limit download speed on the full files. Or setup a git/svn/cvs tree with the main code in it. No need to put the full Linux kernels in there, just writeup a patch mechanism which pulls the original kernels from kernel.org and patches in the uClinux modifications.
