I've built an imagez.bin file after selecting SnapGear-PRO, 2.4
kernel, and uClib, but I can't seem to get it loaded into my
SnapGear PRO unit. The unit is currently running a freshly
installed 1.8.7 image:

  SnapGear/SnapGearPRO Version 1.8.7 -- Fri Mar 12 13:28:26 EST 2004

When I do a firmware update via the web page, the imagez.bin
file is downloaded from the tftp server, but then I get this:

    Flash Upgrade

    SnapGear Configuration Error

    Error

Warning: The SnapGear unit encountered the following problem
    with the last request:

        * You are trying to load firmware for a different unit.
Forcing your unit to do this may render it inoperable.

Your request failed to meet the above requirement. As a result
of the above error, your last request has been ignored. Try
your request again with amended data.

When I do a "netflash 10.0.0.1 imagez.bin" from the sash
prompt, the telnet connection gets terminated before the
download starts and the file is downloaded from the tftp
server, but nothing happens after the file is downloaded -- I
can immediately telnet back into the unit and the stock
firmware is still running.

I presume that in order to prevent customers from downloading
random files into flash, the stock firmware is expecting some
special identifier in the image file that isn't there for
images built with ucLinux-dist?

Or is there something wrong with my image file?

If I do download a broken image into the device, is there a
some sort of bootloader that can be used to fix the unit, it is
it a brick at that point?
