By holding in the reset button while powerup up a SnapGear pro
I was able to get it to boot a 2.4 imagez.bin file from a TFTP
server. After loading the image file from the TFTP server, I
see the "normal" BOOTP/DHCP startup traffic. I can then ping
the device, but I get error messages from the device when I
access it via telnet or http:
$ telnet 10.0.0.199
Trying 10.0.0.199...
Connected to 10.0.0.199.
Escape character is '^]'.
telnetd: All network ports in use.
Connection closed by foreign host.
$ telnet 10.0.0.199 http
Trying 10.0.0.199...
Connected to 10.0.0.199.
Escape character is '^]'.
GET /
<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>403 Forbidden</TITLE></HEAD>
<BODY><H1>403 Forbidden</H1>
Your client does not have permission to get URL / from this
server.
</BODY></HTML>
Connection closed by foreign host.
That's actually pretty encouraging. I know the kernel booted,
and the network stack is running and the telnet daemon and web
server are both running (though neither is very happy).
I do see output from the recovery bootloader on COM1 during the
boot from the TFTP server, but I don't see any activity on
either serial port after the TFTP download completes.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to get a serial console
enabled (for both the kernel and a shell once things are
started up)...
