In fact I suppose it makes sense to do auto-daeminizing code in an
application only to save the users some work when calling the
application _not_ from a shell. With a shell you always can use the "&".
How do you want to do that in uClinux?

The usual approach for MMU
systems using fork doesn't work in uClinux.
Do you speak of self-daemonizing ? I did not try, but in this thread a
solution using clone() has been suggested.
