I didn't say the driver HAD to do wear leveling, but if wear level is to be done, the driver must do it, as SD cards don't do it themselves. Quoting from the SanDisk Spec:
"The SD Card’s Wear Level command is supported as a NOP operation to maintain backward compatibility with existing software utilities."
