I doubt you can even boot a kernel on a system with that little ram.
2MB ram can be done, 4MB is probably rather common in many of the routers
you can run linux on.

I think in that amount of ram, linux is probably too big and overkill
for the job.  Technically being an arm processor linux should support
it, but I haven't seen a linux kernel image smaller than 500kb in quite
a while.
