Hi Jim,

Did you install patch and dofrodos packages?

I don't follow?

I had issues when I didn't have them install under Kubuntu 810, even if you have the build-essentials loaded. Also I found that /bin/sh pointed to dash, and I loaded bash and restored the /bin/sh link to that.

That shouldn;t be a problem in any modern uClinux-dist.
Of course older source packages will have this and many
other problems...

Regards
Greg

Subject
[uClinux-dev] Unable to compile uclinux-dist, arm-linux-gcc:Command not found

Hi Greg,

Thanks for replying. I generated it myself and later on
used a pre-built binary toolchain, which installed into
standard path like /usr/local/arm-elf/bin.

I tried to compile the uclinux-dist many times with fresh installtions by following alot of guides which i found from internet, i always
ended up with errors.

For example:
I'm using Ubuntu 8.10, and i installed
- arm-elf-tools-20040427.sh
- uClinux-dist-20040408.tar.gz with linux-2.6.5-hsc2.patch.gz

by following the guide in
http://opensrc.sec.samsung.com/document/Getting_Familiar_with_uClinuxARM2_6.html

but i ended up with error as below:

mconf.c:91: error: static declaration of 'current_menu' follows non-static declaration scripts/kconfig/lkc.h:63: error: previous declaration of 'current_menu' was here
scripts/kconfig/mconf.c: In function 'exec_conf':
scripts/kconfig/mconf.c:225: warning: ignoring return value of 'pipe', declared with attribute warn_unused_result
scripts/kconfig/mconf.c: In function 'show_textbox':
scripts/kconfig/mconf.c:553: warning: ignoring return value of 'write', declared with attribute warn_unused_result
make[3]: *** [scripts/kconfig/mconf.o] Error 1
make[2]: *** [silentoldconfig] Error 2
make[1]: *** [include/linux/autoconf.h] Error 2

Any idea or any hint on which stable package to use?

Thanks
