If it's one of the mmu enabled processors (like MCF54455) then there's a different toolchain with shared library support. You wouldn't use the uclinux toolchain in that case. (is it different than the executables 'bFLT'?) I don't know the 'logical' places to look...but... I can see why you don't want to store the gcc, etc repositories, but how about the build script?
