Sounds fun - once you confirm the engagement make a blog post about it. Andrea is making a bit of progress hooking Sextante up to the process api; so if you do not mind a GPL module in your demo you could make use of it.

One more small thing to say.
In November in Italy there is the local GFOSS conference.

I proposed a wokshop were the major desktop GIS are compared in doing
a list of things. Kind of a parallel walkthrough. This is meant to
show force and weeknesses of the open desktop GIS.

The GIS will be:
- gvSig + Sextante
- QGis + Grass
- uDig + JGrass

There were now 2 tender proposals here in Italy that propose open
source GIS development. One for gvSig and one for QGis.
I expect to have a very compeeting uDig after Foss4g of this year. I
hope to get administrations here bidding on uDig after seeing the
magic it can do.
So one more thing to keep in mind :)

Niiiifty!!!

Yeah it was something that got confused when the structure of the URLs
changed a bit; I am slowly refactoring the code to back onto the ID
class :-)

Tasks on my plate:
- release uDig 1.2-M7

When did you plan to? I still wanted to get doubleclick configurable
with Jesse. Probably this week I won't make it thou. But that should
not hold back a M7.

Any moment now (tm) - ie when the internal project says go; this is
why uDig trunk has been holding steady at geotools 2.6-M2 for the last
week. If anyone gets a show stopper I will need to release a new
GeoTools 2.6-M3 (although I will do that anyways when I have completed
getting rid of the deprecations in the style classes!).

The M7 release is focused on getting the new datastore implementations
out in front of the user list; so we can collect feedback from them
(so any help we can provide Ugo is time well spent).

What I did:
- migrated BeeGIS competely to uDig 1.2 and hibernate

Woot!

- JGrass will take another little while to get into udig 1.2. Still
have to finish the tiled raster readers and the jiffle mapcalc

Impediments:
- not really an impediment, but I have to get JGrass in its feet as
soon as possible for udig 1.2, so less time for udig straight

No worries; QA from multiple angles is the best right now - so email
early and often.
