I was using the last commit on github from 11 June (and now the latest commit)
and the the 64-bit JRE available on
http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/ADMIN/04+Java+Runtime+Environment.
 I noticed that the page does not mention anything about GDAL's incompatibility
with 64-bit. Should a note of this be made?

Subject: Re: [udig-devel] Question on console output

First of all two question :
- which uDig version do you have?
- which jre is used if you have udig started (Windows->About uDig ->
Installation Details -> Configuration -> java.home + java.version
properties)

If you have downloaded the windows 64 bit version of uDig you can't
work with gdal - have a look at the posts of
http://www.mail-archive.com/udig-devel@lists.refractions.net/msg19228.html)

Cheers
