Yes, it does!
The Style editor itself uses the Style blackboard to store the
configuration within a session. if the user closes the app, the model of
map/layer/style of layer will be stored in the emf model of the map.  have
a look into the eclipse workspace and the subfolder named like your udig
project. NOTE : models are persisted after the application closed
successfully (known "problem" : https://jira.codehaus.org/browse/UDIG-1837)
