I have a Sagem [EMAIL PROTECTED] 800 Modem and have switched from using eagle-usb (kernel 2.6.11.12) to ueagle-atm (svn version, kernel 2.6.14.3). I can get a ppp connection to work and can access the internet. However, as soon as I load the driver when my modem is present, the load on my machine increases gently until it holds at around 1.00. Once the machine reaches high load, the internet connection seems to be much slower. With the old drivers, 100 kB/sec was doable, now I only seem to be able to get around 20 kB/sec.
What is the power of your computer ?
Do you use iso or bulk ?
Could you try the other mode ?
Can you give us /proc/bus/usb/devices ?

I loaded the ueagle-atm module with verbose debugging and this is what I get (I removed compile time paths and dates and my computer name). The last block ( marked with begin repeat and end repeat ) repeats for as long as the modem is operational. My guess is that my box is bombarded with interrupts and that is the reason why it shows such a high load. Any possibility that this can be avoided? Is it a problem with my modem?
I suppose you use newer version of usbatm. May be some change are expensive for older computer.
