X-Mail-List: ufdbGuard
Hi Joel,

For all future Debian packages that we release, the init.d script will be
'ufdbguard'.  Debian is stricter on naming and 'ufdbguard' is better than
'ufdb'.

The sources of ufdbGuard have an init.d script that was developed for Redhat/CentOS while the script in the Debian package is based on a Debian template which does not have rotatelog and testconfig options.

I will add rotatelog and testconfig to the Debian init script in the 1.34.3
release.

Thanks

Marcus

Hi Marcus,

so far we’ve used the ufdbguard with a self-compiled Debian package in version
1.33.7.

Now we want to upgrade to the ready-built Debian packages with version 1.34.2.
Now there are some inexplicable points.

With version 1.33.7 the ufdb init.d script name was “ufdb”. Now the init.d
script is called “ufdbguard”

/etc/init.d/ufdbguard

Is this name switch wanted? Will that be the new standard?

Furthermore with the new version there is a completely different init script.

# /etc/init.d/ufdbguard s

Usage: /etc/init.d/ufdbguard {start|stop|reload|restart|force-reload|status}

ðVersion 1.34.2

# /etc/init.d/ufdb s

Usage: /etc/init.d/ufdb
<start|stop|status|restart|condrestart|try-restart|testconfig|monitor|reconfig|reload|rotatelog|kill>

ðVersion 1.33.7

Are there the options test config, etc. furthermore?

I could not find anything in the docs how to call testconfig and the other
parameters with the new version. Is there a new way to call this?

If I use the command from the old init Script, testconfig works as expected.

# /usr/sbin/ufdbguardd -c /etc/ufdbguard/ufdbGuard.conf -C verify

Thank you

Joel
