Do you mean Marco's standalone "Wavelet Denoise" plug-in? If so, I very much doubt that it uses code from UFRaw. As for wavelets, I'd recommend reading this year SIGGRAPH's paper "Edge-Avoiding Wavelets and thier Applications": http://www.cs.huji.ac.il/~raananf/projects/eaw/index.html. It's actually implemented in code in current version of DarkTable (the Equalizer widget).
