The fstyp oddities to me seem that fstyp_pcfs isn't properly "FAT32-aware" (as much of PCFS). It's normal to have rootdir entries == 0 for FAT32, and since FAT32 uses a different offsets for some of the structural entries (fat size, volume size / label) it seems fstyp reports the wrong things there as well. But just to make sure ...
