Hi Sarah,

As it turns out, there is work to reorganize the communities
and projects. The proposal is that there will be a Filesystems
community and all the *FS communities (UFS, NFS, ZFS) become
opensolaris projects. See this:

Hi Frank,

I'm about to discuss/announce some changes that are coming within the next few months into ONNV. My understanding is that ufs-discuss is the right place to talk about generic file system issues.

As I was scanning through old threads, I found this one. Are there plans to create a "file system code" list/community? Is the ufs-discuss alias still the right place at present to discuss VFS-level changes?

At one point in time I had also suggested we try to create a generic fs community. I spoke with Spencer and the ZFS team about this. There was no consensus reached on this, and I let it drop. Then Frank opened this thread and as far as I know this never got consensus either.

ufs-discuss seems like an ok place for this discussion. I am not sure there is 1 fs community alias that would get everyone who might be interested in this discussion. Perhaps an announcement on opensolaris-discuss that this discussion is about to happen on ufs-discuss so folks who are not subscribed to ufs-dsicuss that want to watch and participate can.

thanks,
