Hi Ananth,
I booted from Belenix and tried to re install the grub. My solaris root is in
/dev/desk/c0d0s0. However, when i give grub install i get the error which says
"device /dev/dsk/c0d0s2 is not a char device". Hence, i am unable to recover
the grub.
  Dear Moinak,
After giving root (hd0,<tab>) in the grub i get a list of partitions numbered
from 0. Partition 1 shows BSD/Solaris and it is further numbered from a to e.
Each partition shows a file system.
Could you please guide me how to proceed from there?
  Regards
  Sreedhar gs

Looks like GRUB stage 2 is unable to locate the menu.lst file. Looks
kind of weird
to me that a Windows hang would screw the MBR, though I have seen
this reported
by others.

In the GRUB shell enter the following: root (hd0,

Pressing the TAB key after "hd0," will display the list of
partitions. What do you see ?

Moinak.
