Well, it sounds as if the bloke who wrote the review had a tiff with Sun. Why do I care about what some d00d in the "IBM Linux Technology Center" had to say about the departure of Roy Fielding from the CAB when reading about an OpenSolaris review ?
The article should have been titled, "Why I ****ing hate OpenSolaris and Sun so much that I will nitpick on CDDL while pretending to review OpenSolaris" Projects choose licenses based on pragmatic reasons - some within their control and some not. Firefox is not GPL. Thunderbird is not GPL. Apache is not GPL. Python is not GPL. Perl is not GPL. PHP is not GPL. The Linux Kernel refuses to move to GPLv3. Even, Qt was not GPL when KDE was being developed. SourceForge - The software that powers sourceforge.net is proprietary and yet more people prefer it over savannah ?
