Hi Udit,

I guess it would be better off if you start off with very basics of 
Solaris like
- Installing Solaris on your machine.
- Building the source code
- Modifying sources and getting comfortable with the code.

Then you can pick up which closed source command (either the 
shell-builtin or any other) you are interested in implementing.
Let us know if you need more clarification
