hey, guys. I'm sending this to all 56 UG lists. There will be an OGB election in March of 2008. If you'd like to vote, or run, or nominate someone to run, please review the Constitution and the documents around last year's election to familiarize yourself with the process. The next election will probably be pretty similar to last year.
Constitution: http://opensolaris.org/os/community/ogb/governance/ Last Year's Election: http://opensolaris.org/os/community/ogb/OGB_Election_Status/ Watch advocacy-discuss for updates on the 2008 election. And, of course, you can follow any OGB elections on ogb-discuss. Also, in order to vote in the election, you need to be listed as a Core Contributor under the "grants" tab here: http://vote.opensolaris.org/. Each OpenSolaris User Group should start updating their Contributor and Core Contributor members so the Advocacy CG has one unified list of Members to send to the OGB. I've started a discussion about this on advocacy-discuss, so see the thread beginning here: http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/advocacy-discuss/2007-December/001403.html From this point on, discussion about the Advocacy CG participation in the OGB elections (which includes all the User Groups) will take place on advocacy-discuss since that is the meta list for the UGs: Sign up: http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/advocacy-discuss. This is just a reminder for everyone to sign up to that list since we can't have the discussion across all the individual UG lists. :) So, if you guys are interested in participating, please start your own discussions on your own list, and then chime in on advocacy-discuss so we can begin updating our voting membership. I'll probably open a wiki page to make this a bit easier and distribute the work load. Please Note: There are 56 OSUGs sponsored by the Advocacy CG: http://opensolaris.org/os/community/advocacy/usergroups/ug-leaders/. And there are 4,137 people on those lists. We are a very big CG within the entire OpenSolaris Community. If we vote, we'll have a good shot at having influence on governance issues. If we don't vote, we'll have no voice at all.
