Excellent news and you have experience in the right domain.
I have not yet gone through the Wiki site fully but from what
I gather device drivers will be an important area for
OpenSolaris to work on this machine. The challenges I see in
   the order of difficulty:

   1) Power Management: This is the single most difficult task.
Every element in the kernel and possibly some applications
    must be power-managed.

   2) Device support: Much of the devices should already be
supported, but we may need to write a few drivers. More
important is tweaking the drivers to ensure that low power
and standby modes are adequately handled.

   3) Booting from flash: May need to modify Grub.

   4) Slimming down OpenSolaris: The current OpenSolaris
binary tree has to be stripped down to the bare essentials.
This is not too difficult since OpenSolaris is completely
modular. I believe, it is possible to get a fully functional
OS for the laptop within 150MB - just the OS.

   5) Slim networking daemons: We will need to write some
of the networking daemons since the laptops can form a
   mesh network of peers.

   6) Understanding OpenSolaris codebase: Medium difficulty
we can meetup, and one of us can give an intro to the entire
    codebase.

   6) Getting to know building and playing with OpenSolaris:
   Not a big deal.

There should be a bunch of other stuff to add to this list. I will
get back with more after I go through the details fully. If you
wish, we can also meetup and discuss this further.

Regards,
Moinak.
